Adrenal insufficiency is a condition that causes when the adrenal glands do not make enough with certain hormone levels. The adrenal glands are situated just above the kidneys. Adrenal insufficiency may be primary, secondary, or tertiary. Primary adrenal insufficiency is so often referred to as Addison's disease. Adrenal insufficiency can influence your body's capacity to act to stress and preserve other vital functions of life. With the diagnosis, most people with adrenal insufficiency may have an ordinary, productive life.
