Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most prevalent liver disease, with an estimated prevalence of 20-30% in the particular population of Western countries. NAFLD occurs as a histological spectrum of illness, including subtypes of simple steatosis and – anti steatohepatitis (NASH). It was assumed to be a benign condition but is now progressively recognized as a major cause of liver morbidity and death rates.
